Mars First Image from NASA New Robot
A new robot has arrived on Mars, the fourth planet in the solar system. The US space agency NASA has landed the Perseverance rover in a deep pit near the equator of Mars. This is the second one ton rover landed on Mars by NASA. Engineers under NASA's mission control in the state of California were overjoyed when the successful landing was confirmed.According to a BBC report, the six-wheeled robot will gather evidence of past life by drilling in the rocks of the island for at least two years. The pit is believed to have had a huge lake billions of years ago, and where there is water, there is the possibility of life.
These rock samples from Mars will be brought to Earth in the 2030s, where they will be examined. After the landing, the spacecraft also tweeted pictures from the planet Mars. Mission controllers received a signal of the landing and safety of Perseus at 8:55 pm world time.Over the next few weeks, engineers will check the various rover systems to see if they have been damaged by difficult landing conditions. It will send several images back to Earth for observation.
This is quite different from the Curiosity rover used in the Gail Crater in 2012. According to Chief Engineer Adam Stelner, he wanted to build a robot that would be faster than Curiosity because there are sharp rocks (vanity facts) on the surface of Mars that damaged Curiosity's wheels. The wheels are strong. They will also perform well on sharp stones and sand.
The mission has more than 20 cameras and 2 microphones. 2 cameras are on a small helicopter that will try to fly in the desolate climate of Mars. This is NASA's first mission to Mars since Viking Lander in the 1970s to find evidence of life.NASA and the European Space Agency have devised a multi-billion dollar plan for the success of this mission.
